The water industry is entering an exciting, potentially transformative period. Statutory changes require water companies to submit their 25 year plans for public consultation at 5 yearly intervals, encouraging a shift away from the stop-start short-sighted investment plans that have limited industry certainty and confidence. With the draft plans to be passed to Defra in April this year, NCE'sFuture of UK Water Resources conference will be the first forum to discuss the preliminary public consultation and publicise the strategic plans set to shape development and infrastructure works.
The Future of UK Water Resources is the most forward-thinking, strategic forum of 2008, attracting a unique mix of leading engineering consultants, contractors, water companies, government agencies and not-for-profit organisations to discuss the issues facing the water industry and align the disparate areas of the marketplace.
Where are we headed?
Future Water: hear directly from Defra on the Government's vision for a secure, sustainable water supply and get progress updates on the implementation of the Water Framework Directive
Future Planning: gain insights into water companies' recently submitted resource management plans and learn about proposed infrastructure schemes
Future Pricing: get Ofwat's perspective on the upcoming price review and the predicted evolution of pricing processes beyond PR09
Future Processing: debate the viability of the infrastructure and processing options available. Is effluent reuse a sustainable alternative source for the future?
Future Efficiency: is 2030 soon enough for universal metering? What other methods effectively reduce consumption? Where to next for leakage control?
