Top firms in consulting to be unveiled this afternoon

In just hours the NCE/ACE Consultants of the Year will be revealed at the awards lunch at Claridges in London.

Eighteen firms have been shortlisted across three categories: Major Firm; Medium Firm; and International Firm.

Shortlisted in the major firm category for companies employing more than 800 staff are: Arup, Grontmij, Mott MacDonald, Atkins, RPS and Jacobs.

Consultants are going through a tough time at present, but the sector still managed to generate £10.33bn in 2008, up 20% on the figure for 2007.

Shortlisted in the medium firm category, for companies employing between 200 and 800 staff are; Balfour Beatty Management, Tony Gee & Partners, Wardell Armstrong, MVA, JBA and Frankham Consultancy.

Those on the international category shortlist which covers UK consultants operating overseas are: Arup, Scott Wilson, Halcrow, Mott MacDonald, RPS and Hyder.

The winners will be announced at the NCE/ACE Consultants Awards Lunch at Claridges Hotel tomorrow. Shortlisted companies are selected on the basis of information submitted for inclusion in the NCE Consultants File 2009. The Consultants File provides a remarkable insight into the health of the profession and will be published online on Friday and with NCE magazine on Thursday 20 March.

The awards lunch will also include the Young Consultant of the Year and the individual or team selected as winner of the NCE/ACE Outstanding Achievement award.
