Foulkes becomes president of the Commonwealth Engineers’ Council

Having served previously as secretary general, Foulkes said he would continue the good work being done by the CEC to foster cooperation across the Commonwealth and support the contribution of engineering to sustainable development and fulfilment of the UN’s Millennium Development Goals.

Foulkes said: “As president, I look forward to building on the fantastic work done by Tony, and everyone else involved with the CEC to promote development and in particular to encourage capacity building by Institutions.

“This will include the promotion of expertise and knowledge transfer between the CEC member Institutions, promoting the engagement of engineers with the UN Millennium Development Goals and working to encourage collaboration between the professions in order to ensure sustainable socio-economic development.”

In his capacity as president, Foulkes will represent the CEC and its membership to the World Federation of Engineering Organisations as well as representing the engineering profession amongst the Commonwealth civil society and professional organisations.
