Volvo lays foundations for niche expansion into piling and tunnelling
Piling and tunnelling equipment is now available Europe-wide from Volvo Construction Equipment following signing of a deal with Sweden’s CeDe Group.
The agreement is part of a wider deal that will also open up availability of road-rail machines, forestry bucket jibs, and all-terrain forklift units for sale through Volvo’s European dealership network.
Under the Zone 3 agreement, Volvo will supply the base machines with part CE marking to CeDe which will then adapt them to specific market applications before gaining full CE marking. CeDe, based in Malmo, Sweden has been developing Volvo based products for the past 10 years and the Zone 3 agreement is a key aspect of the company’s ambition to launch its product portfolio in Europe.
According to Volvo CE Region Europe Nordic sales and marketing manager Magnus Rieger, CeDe’s ideas have helped Volvo meet customer needs in the past and “this agreement can only strengthen our relationship”. Volvo also believes that the deal will open the equipment up to a wider customer base. “We will be able to turn what are currently individual specialist machines into higher volume specialist machines,” added Rieger.
