Stabilisation work underway on Hemel Hempstead chalk mine
Bam Ritchies has started work on stabilising properties affected by an historic chalk mine in Hemel Hempstead, almost 12 years after a front garden collapsed in front of one of the houses.
Ritchies will use a combination of bulk infilling and compaction grouting below 37 properties, the road and some public areas in Highbarns.
The work is being funded by a grant from the Land Stabilisation Programme of the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) applied for by Dacorum Borough Council.
Ritchies has said that the main stabilisation work should be completed in June.
