Landmark signs mapping agreement with Newcastle University

Students on civil engineering and geoscience courses at Newcastle University will get a chance to use commercial digital mapping software under a new partnership announced this week.

Under the deal, the Landmark Information Group has agreed to give students access to the Promap Contaminated Land module, which allows users to query complex databases that are used by industry to access Ordnance Survey mapping, aerial view photography, local plan data, flood reports or 3D models.

“By partnering with Promap, our students are able to broaden their skills and knowledge of using digital mapping systems that are used day-in, day-out by professionals working across the property industry,” said Newcastle University teaching fellow Martin Cooke. “By using the software at university, they are able to gain invaluable, practical knowledge of the software, which can only be an advantage for the students themselves and also their future employers.”

Landmark Promap national trainer Nick Mills will manage the teaching sessions for the university.
