Geofirma appointed to undertake Gloucester soil stabilisation
Contractor Barnwood Construction has appointed Geofirma to undertake a £250,000 soil stabilisation contract to enable a new supermarket to be built in Gloucester.
According to Geofirma, use of the technique on the new £34M Morrisons development on a disused railway site has helped reduce costs, minimise material movement offsite and speed up the construction programme.
“Our assessments showed that this site was ideal for on-site soil stabilisation,” said Geofirma general manager Steve Dunn. “In addition to being a quicker and cheaper method, this route also has environmental benefits by reducing the amount of materials going to landfill and the number of truck movements to and from the site.”
The soil stabilisation work is expected to take eight weeks to complete.
