A67 closed as ground movement continues

Increased ground movements on a slope next to the A67 at Low Carlbury in Darlington have led to indefinite closure of the route.

Darlington Borough Council (DBC) said that it had been investigating the landslip with one lane of the route open to traffic but further movement during the work has led to closure until the ground stabilises or a permanent solution is found.

DBC said that it is working with Northumbrian Water at the site as there are concerns that the ground movement could impact on water mains buried in the road.
