Aecom wins Newcastle and Durham university deals
Aecom has been awarded a contract to provide civil engineering design services to Newcastle University, for its programme to upgrade and refurbish its open spaces.
The first area to benefit from the upgrade will be the historic quadrangle. This is at the heart of the campus and often features on such TV shows as “Wire in the Blood”.
Aecom will work closely with local landscape architect, SLR and produce the detailed designs for the work which must be carried out over the next three years during the summer holidays.
The consultant has also won a contract to provide mechanical and electrical services to Durham University under a four-year framework agreement.
Aecom is also working with Balfour Beatty which is preferred bidder for a £50M contract to provide mechanical, electrical, civil and structural design services for the Federation of Priory Academies. This Building Schools for the Future funded project, to build two new academies (City and Witham) and refurbish and extend the existing, Priory Academy in South Lincoln, also involves Aecom acting as BREEAM Assessor on the project.
Announcing these project wins, which follow on the back of the organisation’s re-brand to reflect its global status, regional director, Keith Armstrong said: “These latest contract wins are a clear demonstration of Aecom’s capability to work for clients as either a sole provider or in a multi-disciplinary capacity. We pride ourselves on delivering award-winning solutions which not only create innovative landmark buildings, but leave a low-impact legacy on the environment. This is particularly true of the work we have completed for Defra on Lion House, it’s new zero carbon headquarters in Alnwick.”
