Plans for the world's tallest concrete structure were unveiled in Dubai last night.
Local developer Nakheel unveiled the design of the 1km+ tall tower as part of a 270HA development that includes an inner city harbour.
The structure itself will comprise four individual towers and six on a crescent shaped podium. Its height will dwarf that of the world's current tallest structure, the Burj Dubai, which stands at 818m.
Launched at Dubai's Cityscape real estate conference, the project is part of Nakheel's £46bn construction portfolio.
Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, chairman of Nakheel's parent company Dubai World, said: "With Islamic influences governing its design, Nakheel tower has been able to reach its height of more than 1km. This inspired approach has enabled us to achieve a number of amazing feats of engineering, such as making the tower the world's tallest concrete structure."
