Consultant and contractor Hydrock Group this week announced that it had acquired structural engineering firm Structures1.
The acquisition of the Bristol and Gloucester-based firm, which employs 17 people, was completed on 31st July.
"We have been working hard over the past few weeks to make this happen and we are delighted that the Structures1 team will be part of Hydrock," said Hydrock managing director Brian McConnell.
"The company's skills and experience will complement our own and bring more and larger opportunities. This is great news for us all," he said.
Structures1 operates in education, community and healthcare, residential, industrial and commercial, sports and performing arts and historic structures. The firm will keep its name and offices and operate as a trading division of Hydrock.
The structural design team will form part of the company's consultant and contracting services, which include geoenvironmental, geotechnical, land quality, environment, infrastructure, civil and structural engineering, building services design, contamination remediation, land stabilisation and drilling.
Hydrock employs more than 360 people in Bristol, Bath, Gloucester, Stoke-on-Trent, Northampton and Plymouth and expects to report a £turnover of around £40M for 2008.
