CABE launches planning guidance for councils
The Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) has launched an advice booklet for councils revising their core planning strategy.
Officials say the guidance, which focusses on placing a high standard of design at the centre of decisions, will offer councils practical advice on formulating their planning vision for the next 20 years.
The booklet recommends three simple steps as the most effective way of achieving long-term planning goals - telling the story of the borough, setting the agenda clearly, and making it relevant to and accessible by a wide audience.
Examples used to illustrate its points include case studies from Brighton and Hove City Council, the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and Camden Council.
