Week ending 2 October: Continued good performance
The support service sector had a good week with the engineering consultants continuing to show some strong performances.

The support services sector underperformed the FT Allshare by 1% over the week. But the engineering consultants overall had another good week

The support services sector performed neutrally over the week.
Week ending 28 August: strong movements in the smaller caps
The Support Services sector performed in line with the FTallshare this week.
Week ending 31 July: Another mixed week for consultants
The Support Services sector underperformed the FTallshare by 1% this week.
Week of 13 July: Mixed share price performances
The Support Service sector underperformed the FTallshare slightly over the week by -2% as did the small cap sector (of which many of the consultants are constituents).
Week of 6 July: Larger stocks performing well
The support service sector had a relatively good week, outperforming the market overall by 1%.
Week of 29 June: Hyder top performer
The Support Services sector had a good week, relatively outperforming by 1%. The engineering consultancy peer Group largely underperformed relative to the FT allshare: WS Atkins -1%, Mouchel -1%, WSP -2%, Scott Wilson -2% with Hyder being the exception at +2%.
Week of 15 June: Mixed newsflow
The engineering consultancy peer group had a mixed week: outperformers relative to the FTallshare were WS Atkins +3% (good results and a strong balance sheet were well received), Scott Wilson +1% , Hyder +5% and Waterman +5%.
Week ending 7 August: Current trading meeting expectations
The Support Services sector had a good week, outperforming the FTallshare by 2%.
Week of 8 June: small caps outperformed
The outperformance in the engineering consultancy peer group recently lay in the larger small cap stocks with WSP +c9%, Hyder Consultancy +c10% and Scott Wilson +c6% relative to the FTallshare.
Week of 1 June: Share price rally
The Support Service sector had a good week (outperforming the FTallshare by 2%) and the engineering & environmental consultants enjoyed a rally.
Week of 25 May: Drifting share prices
Generally this was a quiet week for stockmarket volumes. The Support Services sector underperformed relative to the FT Allshare (-4%) with the better performers in the sector including the perceived defensives and the oil related stocks.
Week of 22 May: Challenging trading conditions
The engineering and environmental consultants underperformed over the week bar a steady performance from WS Atkins and RPS at the large cap end and WYG at the small cap end.
Week of 11 May: Mouchel best performer
The Support Services sector marginally underperformed a weak market during the course of the week reflecting profit taking and poor sentiment following weak US retail sales data and Mervyn King’s comments on 13 May.
Week of 4 May: mixed performance for consultancy sub sector
The engineering consultancy sub sector had mixed performance over the week. WS Atkins, which bounced on broker buy notes at the end of April, was down around 10% on the week as concerns over UK public spend resurfaced and investors locked in profits.
Week of 27 April: Relative underperformance creeps into support services
This week the small cap sector continues to relatively outperform. However relative under performance has crept into parts of the support services sector reflecting profit taking and sentiment continuing to disfavour some of the perceived defensive stocks.
