Man's puny efforts can do little to halt climate change

I am both surprised and disappointed to read your subjective editorial on climate change.

We are in a period when the politically correct view of many scientists and politicians is being seriously challenged and anyone wishing to obtain a balanced view on this important topic would be well advised to read Nigel Lawson's An Appeal to Reason.

In a letter it is not possible to even summarise the balanced arguments put forward in this book although it comes as a surprise to many to read that there has been no increase in estimated average global temperatures this century!

Both sides in this important discussion tend to exaggerate their arguments. Whatever criticisms can be levelled at the Channel 4 programme, it should be remembered that a judge (Mr Justice Burton) found no fewer than nine significant errors in Al Gore's film An Inconvenient Truth.
