Military versus civil engineering

I am a civil engineer. I belong to the ICE and pay subscriptions to that body so that I may pursue a career in and be advised on civil engineering. 

 The excellent New Civil Engineer and Civil Engineering Proceedings provide us with up to date information on civil engineering.

Why then does the latest issue of Proceedings contain a paper on a military engineering project, Camp Bastion, Afghanistan?

Written by a military engineer the paper describes a project designed and built by military engineers for purely military purposes.

This may seem to be a minor objection and a fine point, but surely the raison d'être of the Institution of Civil Engineers and indeed our profession is to be non-military.

I choose not to associate myself with military projects and have to object to my subscription fee being used to publicise them.
