Win a £300 camera by designing infrastructure with NCE Insite
NCE Insite is running a competition to get 14-18 year olds thinking about the planning and design of the energy, utilities, waste and transport infrastructure that we rely on every day.
The top prize is a Panasonic Lumix FZ45 digital camera with 14.1 megapixel resolution, 24x optical zoom and HD video recording.
Your venue will need infrastructure to keep it running, and that has to be designed and built by civil engineers.
Imagine you are an engineer working on a new stadium. Your venue will need essential infrastructure to keep it running, and that has to be designed and built by civil engineers.
Atkins, the official engineering and design provider to the London 2012 Games, is offering a Panasonic Lumix digital camera to the best design for a piece of infrastructure to support a sporting venue.
Click here to see examples of the infrastructure being built around the Olympic Park in Stratford.
You could design:
- A renewable energy supply
- A transport route
- A water supply and sewage system
- A waste management system
Think about how your design will work, where energy or water will come from and where waste will go. Consider what materials your piece of infrastructure will be built from and where it should be located in relation to the stadium.
Make a drawing or diagram of your design and write a short explanation to go with it, then send it to Insite at the following address by February 28th 2011.
The winning design will be published in the Spring 2011 issue of Insite.
