Entering is easy - find out how here
Tell us your highlights while at uni, and what you have achieved so far in your first post grad job, and leave the rest to us. Modesty is not a virtue in this competition and all our previous finalists were genuinely amazed at winning through.
The awards are open to anyone who graduated from an ICE accredited civil, structural – or related – engineering first degree course, or MSc postgraduate course, during 2007.
The MSc must have followed on directly after the first degree without a gap between the two courses. A graduate currently pursuing any other relevant post graduate degree is also eligible so long as the first, or MSc degree, was completed in 2007.
Entrants will be judged on all round ability; not only academic and work related achievements but also their enthusiasm for civil engineering.
Entries should be submitted by the graduate and include a commendation from either a company training officer or a relevant senior engineer.
Company training officers are asked to encourage a wide range of their graduates to enter - not just selected favourites.
Entries will be judged by a panel of senior engineers drawn from the awards’ sponsors.
Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by Friday 24 October 2008 and asked to make a short presentation, based on the essay question, at a meeting with the judges at the Institution of Civil Engineers, London on Friday 7 November 2008.
Entrants not approached by 24 October, have regrettably not been shortlisted.
All shortlisted candidates will be invited to the awards’ presentation lunch on Friday,5th December 2008, held at the Institution of Civil Engineers. London. Travel expenses to the ICE will be reimbursed by NCE.
All shortlisted candidates will receive a certificate. The winner will receive a specially commissioned trophy and £1000. Two runners’ up will each receive £500 and three highly commended candidates £250.
The judges’ decisions will be regarded as final and no correspondence, other than required by this entry, should be sent to any judge.
