CECA calls for clients to act against climate change
The Eddington report, written by former British Airways boss Sir Rod Eddington, called for a national system of road pricing and better public transport to ease the strain on Britain's roads and combat CO2 emissions.Andrews said that contractors are part of the response to climate change, and that 'clients must recognise that commitment to use renewable materials should form part of the pre-qualification process'.p>'If the government is to meet its own environmental commitments without causing damage to the future economy it must create a sustainable, integrated transport network.'A long-term national programme for transport is the best way - probably the only way - to do this effectively,' said Andrews.
