Picture gallery special: NCE Graduate Awards 2013

Presentation of the 2013 NCE Graduate Awards took place on Wednesday 4 December at the Institution of Civil Engineers. Relive the day in pictures here.

Five men and one woman beat off competition from a record 118 worldwide entries to be finalists in this year’s Graduate Awards.

Overall winner was 24 year old Joe Smith from Bristol University and now a geotechnical engineer with Arup.

He was presented with a £1500 cheque and a specially crafted trophy. Smith was also offered a package of opportunities including working with ICE President Geoff French as a President’s Apprentice promoting his aim of attracting more young engineers.

The 2013 NCE Graduate Awards were open to any engineer who graduated with a civil engineering - or related - first or postgraduate degree in 2012. Any postgraduate degree must have followed on directly after the first degree without any gap.
