Every year, over 70 million passengers use Heathrow airport. Heathrow’s vision is to make every journey better and the transformation of Heathrow continues at a fast pace. Every year around £1 billion is being invested in modernising the airport. This investment is currently focussed on the construction of the new Terminal 2. This new facility will open on 4th June 2014 and will accommodate up to 20 million passengers per year. There are other major improvements under way to the Terminal 3 baggage system and also passenger experience improvements in Terminals 3 and 4. Heathrow is also currently re-surfacing its two runways. TfL is responsible for the day-to-day to operation of the Capital's public transport network, managing London's main roads and planning and building new infrastructure. No other city is as defined by its transport system as London, with its red buses, black cabs and Tube trains instantly recognised the world over. Every day around 24 million journeys are made across our network. Every journey matters to us and we do all we can to keep the city moving, making sure the transport network is safe, reliable and fit for the future. We manage London's buses, the Tube network, Docklands Light Railway, Overground and Tramlink. We also run Barclays Cycle Hire, London River Services, Victoria Coach Station, the Emirates Air Line and London Transport Museum. As well as controlling a 580km network of main roads and the city's 6,000 traffic lights, we regulate London's taxis and private hire vehicles and the Congestion Charge scheme. All our income is reinvested to run and improve services. This allows us to upgrade stations and bring in new trains, tubes and buses to continually improve capacity and reliability.
